DOING WHAT IT TAKES TO KEEP IT ALIVE by Robert Soto

I Corinthians 11:23 "For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you..."
Today I and my two sons went to see a movie set in the future after what they called The Time of the Bright Light which meant after nuclear war broke out worldwide. The story is about a man who was given the task by God to protect and deliver the last copy of the scriptures to the right group and how others were seeking a way to steal it and use it for their own selfish gain. So the whole story is based on the task of one man and his journey to complete the task set before him by God the Creator for the sake of all mankind. As I saw the movie I could not help but think of our people and all they did in times past to preserve as much of who we were as Indian People. I could not help but think of the sacrifices made so that we could live to know the story of who we are and how God the Creator preserved us and helped us through the way. Some never got to see the day we are seeing today because in their efforts they died to keep who we are alive.
Sacrifices were made for a story, for a way of life that we felt in our heart was a gift from God the Creator. We broke laws and even died to make sure the stories were kept alive for generations to come. Paul wrote the Corinthian people and said, "For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you..." God the Creator spoke to Paul who then passed it on to others so that they in return would pass it on to those who would be willing to listen. Many died for the right to pass it on so that the teachings of God the Creator would last to see the better days of their offspring. What are you keeping alive - and if tomorrow you were told not so pass on the story, would you be willing to break the law and die for that right? Many of our people did in times past so that you and I could live to see better days and to hear the story of times gone by.
