WALKING IN HIS POWER by Robert Soto

WALKING IN HIS POWER by Robert Soto

II Samuel 5:10 "And he became more and more powerful, because the LORD God Almighty was with him."

There was a time when it was not the thing to be Indian. Most of my friends and even a lot of my relatives would mock me and harass me for claiming to be who I was created to be. I discovered I was Apache at about age eight. It was an open book revelation and as with most kids, I desired to learn all I could about being Indian. As I got older this revelation grew as I started to notice things that made us different than the rest of the world. It was as if God the Creator was opening my eyes to a world that was foreign to all around me. I noticed things like the creation and how the creation spoke of a Creator. I started learning about the creation and how the creation spoke to us. I started noticing things like the importance of taking care of the creation. How to keep it clean and how to correct the things man had managed to destroy. I started seeing things like the way we think. Most of mankind puts life in a time frame. I started to see that our view of life was more in view of a never-ending circle. That things like death was not out of the ordinary but just part of the circle of life.

As strange as my world started to seem to others, for me it became very normal and a way of life that had been with us since the beginning of time. I started to see God the Creator as not just a God which we worshiped on Sunday and Wednesday, but a Creator who was with me each step of the way in my journey of life. I started seeing that God the Creator was more than just a name or a deity, but the supreme being who had planned and plotted every step I took. I begin to understand that with God the Creator on my side, there was nothing I could not do or accomplish. It was Samuel who wrote the following of the new King of Israel, David. He wrote, "And he became more and more powerful, because the LORD God Almighty was with him." So that the closer we walk alongside the Creator, the more confidently we will approach God and sense His power walking alongside of us.
