WAYS GIVEN TO US BY A CHILD by Robert Soto

Proverbs 20:11 "Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right."
I wish I could remember what went on in my mind when I was a little boy. I look at my grandson who is now three years and four months old and see him deep in meditation as he tries, in one way or another, to take care of whatever is on his mind. I see him try one thing that does not work and instead of giving up, he then tries a second thing and a third and a fourth until he either figures it out or comes to me for help. But then he stands there and observes me to see what I did. Then sometimes I see him looking out into space as if he was seeing something that I cannot see. I see him thinking in his own little way and wondering. I try to get into his little mind. I try to see what he sees and uses in his little world. I try to laugh at the things he laughs at and even cry at the things he cries at. He might be three years old, but he is now preparing himself for whatever the future might bring.
It is when he is at his quietest that I turn to God the Creator and seek His counsel and pray for my little grandson's future and whatever it might bring. I pray for his life and for his breath. I pray for his protection and for the path he is being prepared to take. I pray for his commitment to God the Creator so that he can see him in a greater way than I am seeing Him today. I pray for the pain and disappointments he will experience. I pray that every time he falls, someone will be there to catch him. Solomon once wrote, "Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right." I pray that God lays a path before my grandson that no one will ever doubt his actions and his motives; that the path he will follow will reflect the good efforts of those God the Creator will place in his way to complete his path and journey in life.
