Nahum 1:7 "The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him..."

A few weeks ago while I was driving back home from an American Indian presentation I noticed a flock of pigeons above me. It looked like there were well over a hundred and fifty pigeons flying just above the van. I kept staring at them. I couldn't help it. They looked so beautiful as they flew wherever the wind seemed to take them. Wherever they were going, they seemed not to be in as much of a hurry as the people below them in the cars going to wherever they were going. As I stared at them I noticed one of the pigeons left the flock and started coming down. It looked just like a powerful hawk or eagle that was taking a dive for its prey. But before I knew it, the pigeon hit the pavement right in front of me and lay there dead. I guess I was a little startled. That was the last thing I expected to happen in front of me. I yelled out to the guys in the van, "Did you all see that?" But everyone was busy doing other things and did not notice what had happened.

As I continued driving and even into the night I couldn't help but think of that poor pigeon. I kept wondering what had happened for it to just fall from the sky like a shooting star and lay dead in the middle of the road. I kept wondering if anyone really cared or if anyone was going to miss it. After all, it was just a pigeon and who cares if they live or die. But then I sensed some words coming into my heart that said, "God cared for the pigeon." I heard the voice say, "You might have been the only human to see one of my creations die that day, but I saw it fall and I saw it die." After all, it is God our Creator who cares for everything He created. It is God the Creator who cares for you and for me. Nahum said, "The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.." If God the Creator cared for and remembered that pigeon who on a daily basis trusted Him for its provision, how much more will He take care of you.
