THE SIGNATURE THAT COUNTS by Robert Soto

THE SIGNATURE THAT COUNTS by Robert Soto

Revelation 21:12 & 15 "And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books...If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

As vice chairman of our tribe I have many opportunities to volunteer and do things that need to be done. So, along with being the Director of Publications, I recently volunteered to produce the tribal cards that we issue to those who are members. It is a long and tedious process that involves knowing stuff about computers that normally I would not give the time of day to. I have had to learn to doctor pictures and signatures. For example, black hair on a black background might make a good picture to hang on the wall, but in an ID card the hair disappears with the black background and all you see is a face. So that means I might have to change the background color by erasing the old and putting in a new color. Signatures are supposed to be dark on a white background. But sometimes the signatures are submitted on a background that comes out gray. So I take the computer's tiny paint brush and paint the background white again.

But as I carefully work around letters and middles of letters and darken the letters where they need to be darkened, I have noticed one thing. Each signature has become a trademark of the person signing the document. Each signature is unique and each signature reflects on the character of the one signing the document. Some look like the name, but with other signatures, like mine, you could never guess what the first and last name is. So each signature is as unique as the person who created it. So as I documented one signature after another I could not help but think of the one document that belongs to God the Creator; He and He alone knows the content. It will be His signature that will be at the end of this document that will reveal those who have accepted or rejected His Son. It is called The Book of Life. For those who were not found in His book, signed and sealed by God the Creator, John wrote: "...if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." Each signature reflects the character of the person, but at the end only one signature will count - the one God the Creator puts in His book as He writes down the names of all who believe.
