THE POWER TO KEEP ON GOING by Robert Soto
January 11, 2010
Job 27:11 "I will teach you about the power of God; the ways of the Almighty I will not conceal."
Yesterday marked a milestone in our lives. Actually, it happened on January 8th but we celebrated yesterday, January 10th. My wife and I have been serving McAllen Grace Brethren Church for twenty- one years. It is difficult to believe that we have been here for that long. In the last twenty-one years we have seen people come and people go. We have seen people and special friends and loved ones who are now with God the Creator. Countless people had heard the saving message of God's love toward us and the eternal life we receive when we believe in His Son. In the last twenty-one years we have seen church programs come and go. We have seen things like the Native American New Life Center and the Chief of Chiefs Christian Church started. I have had the privilege of traveling to 14 countries outside of the US. I have visited, spoken, danced and sung in most of our states. We have had the privilege of recording seven CDs - four drum and three flute. In the last twenty-one years the Son Tree Native Path has been founded and thousands have heard the gospel and messages of hope through Jesus Christ.
I'm sure there's others that I can't think of right now. But as I sit in front of my computer, I can't help but think that all that has been accomplished today has not been through my power, or our church's power, but by the power and permission of God the Creator who, through His mercy has seen fit to use our church as He sees the need. So as I think of the day and the celebration of our church to mark this special occasion, I can't help but think of the power of God and His mercy to use us as He pleases. Each day has been a story of God the Creator working through the little that I have. There are stories of victories as well as of defeats. Stories of joy and stories of sorrow. Stories of how God the Creator has taken care of us these last twenty-one years. Job once wrote, "I will teach you about the power of God; the ways of the Almighty I will not conceal." So again I say that all praise goes to God for His work through McAllen GBC; and I can honestly say that it is not me, but the power of God that works through me.
